Rachel Platten at The Grove

DSC00989On February 18th, Crate & Barrel hosted a FREE show with Rachel Platten at The Grove. Rachel released her album, Wildfire, in January and I’ve been obsessed with Fight Song. It has become one of my all time favorite songs. I found out about the event 2 days prior. There was an Eventbrite link to RSVP. Crate & Barrel had snacks, limited signed Wildfire cds for purchase, and a chance to meet Rachel afterwards.

Backstreet Boys & Avril Lavigne (In A World Like This Tour)

DSC09155Nostalgia was in full force when the Backstreet Boys (BSB) announced they were touring with Avril Lavigne a couple years ago. There was no way I could miss this opportunity! I went with my best friend on May 28, 2014 in San Diego at the Viejas Arena. This was the first time I saw the Backstreet Boys in concert and the 2nd time for Avril Lavigne (I saw her the year before at Jimmy Kimmel’s summer concert series).Read More »

Lights at The Wiltern

DSC00914I’ve seen Lights perform 6 times in the past 5 years. Last Friday, I went to her concert at The Wiltern in Los Angeles. I have never been to this venue before and paid $20 for parking at the parking garage next door (absolutely insane).

Usually her L.A. shows sell out, but Lights had a show in Anaheim the night before. A group of us were supposed to be seated above in LOGE, but they allowed everyone on the Floor.Read More »

JoJo at Westfield Fashion Valley Mall

DSC00407_0013For this throwback Thursday, I decided to write about JoJo who is finally on tour after a 7 year legal battle with her former label (they refused to release new music). I’ve been reminiscing to when I first saw her perform at a San Diego mall in May before her debut album released in June 2004. JoJo was 14 and had two singles on the radio. Leave (Get Out) and Baby It’s You were blowing up on MTV.Read More »

Fleur De Force Book Signing at Barnes & Noble Santa Monica

I can always count on Fleur to give honest reviews about products. I’ll know what brands to look for when I visit the UK one day!Read More »

House from Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” Music Video

IMG_0155Towards the end of Michael Jackson’s music video for “Thriller,” you see this house. It’s located in Angelino Heights (northwest to downtown LA) near dozens of other beautiful Victorian homes. Besides the “Thriller” music video, this home was also featured in Charmed (season 4, episode 5) and the 1989 movie, Teen Witch.

Several homes on this street have also been used for more filming locations. I’m not familiar with Charmed, but another house from that TV show is located a few doors down at 1329 Carroll Avenue. If you’re a fan of The Office, Holly’s home is nearby at 1347 Kellam Avenue.Read More »

“The Ellen DeGeneres Show” Taping Review

Ellen2I’ve been watching The Ellen Show for years and have heard how difficult it is to obtain guaranteed tickets. The new season began in September, so in mid-August I visited her website and clicked on tickets. It showed September was fully booked, so I clicked onto the next month and saw October 12-15th had tickets available (Ellen doesn’t film on Fridays). At this point, you have no idea who the guests are going to be. You can only attend one taping per season. I decided Thursday, October 15th and filled out the online form. The website says you will be contacted if you’re chosen.Read More »

Mindy Kaling “Why Not Me?” Book Signing at The Grove

DSC00834 (1)One thing I love about The Grove in Los Angeles is the book signings at Barnes & Noble. I follow “Barnes & Noble Events at The Grove” on Twitter and read that Mindy Kaling was going to have a book signing in October. Her TV show, The Mindy Project, is one of my favorite comedies right now. I had a feeling this book signing would be a popular one! Barnes & Noble at The Grove have their own Facebook page and according to their event page, over a thousand people planned on attending. It ended up getting postponed from Friday, October 2nd to Thursday, October 8th.
